Base Ball

A mechanical bank card with great color and a baseball theme would be one of the most desirable trade cards that anyone could ever want. Well, here it is!

The $7,700 price paid at auction in 1994 for a mint example of the Base Ball Bank card remains the highest price ever paid for any trade card.

Note that at that time, "baseball" was spelled using two words, not one.

This card was y Gast & Co. of New York, and issued in 1888. It's shown here at 85 percent of full size.
