Richard
S. Ely
An
image of a beautiful clipper under full sail, like this one
for Richard S. Ely, was sure to inspire the confidence of a
prospective passenger or freight consignor. Invariably,
though, a "generic" clipper image was used; no attempt was
made at rendering any kind of accurate representation of the
particular clipper ship being advertised.
This card
was printed by George Nesbitt of New York, and is shown at
80 percent of actual size.
