This card is unusual in several ways: 1st - it shows someone actually chewing tobacco; 2nd - although the Chinese man is in a kneeling position the two men appear to be coworkers in that they both have picks: 3rd - it portrays historical events, probably either the many Chinese prospectors seeking their fortunes in the California Gold Rush, or the many Chinese laborers who worked to complete the final mountainous western section of the Transcontinental Railroad.
